Orthopaedic Surgeon Leads Effort to Build Exercise Trail – Requests Support

Adam Bright, M.D., a local orthopaedic surgeon, is leading an effort to build a fitness trail and playground at the Laurel Trailhead of Sarasota County’s treasured Legacy Trail. The project, Generation Play – Laurel Park 2012, is a collaboration of medical and community organizations including: Friends of Sarasota County Parks, Inc.; Laurel Civic Association, Inc.; Gametime; and Sarasota County Parks and Recreation.
The vision of the project is a playground and fitness trail with elements of modern design and environmental sensitivity and universally accessible for the enjoyment of all generations in our community. The park and playground will be wheel-chair accessible and promote multi-generational play and exercise.
As an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Bright sees the plight of obesity and lack of exercise on a daily basis. He is the President of the Florida Orthopaedic Society which is championing the fight against obesity through awareness and community projects. The Grand Opening of the park is June 2, 2012 and volunteers are needed the day of the playground build.
Financial support is requested. Charitable donations can be made by visiting http://www.floridaorthopediccommunity.com/?page=Playground
