Calling All Volunteers - Sarasota County's Volunteer Sign-Up Page

Register today to become a Sarasota County Parks and Recreation Volunteer. The County's brand new system will provide tracking of your volunteer hours and put you in touch with Friends of Sarasota County Parks if you're not already one of our members. FOSCP will continue to coordinate activities of all volunteers.

Volunteer Process
1- Volunteer goes on line and/or the nearest library and completes application
• Apply on-line at scgov.net
• County a-z
• V tab to volunteers
• Now at Volunteer Sarasota County
• Click on Volunteer Now tab
• Regular volunteers enter here and/or annual event volunteers enter here. Note volunteer events is a calendar of events, no sign site.
• Select a site – a drop down tab
• Volunteer needs to pick as a volunteer on a regular basis or for annual events
• Volunteer registration instructions page- hit ‘next’
• Volunteer type –select one of these types: regular volunteer, court-appointed volunteer, public assistance-to-work program volunteer
• Now enter your personal information on the next several pages
• Note that the volunteer needs to agree to both statements on the Truthfulness and Confidentiality Sarasota County Government Disclosure to continue. The volunteer needs to click the agree tabs on both of these statements, the County employee cannot.
• Review your information then click on next tab
• Next page allows you to add more sites
• Complete pages for volunteer interests and skills or interest in annual events then click on ‘finish’. Note do not click on the back button prior to ‘finish’.
2- Volunteer Program Administrators (David France and Kathi Rader-Gibson) then forward these applications to the Sheriff Department for background check weekly
3- Sheriff Department (Records) gets them back to the Volunteer Program Manager Jack Colligan within business 48 hours
4- The volunteers that pass the background check are then forwarded to the Volunteer Program Administrators (David France and Kathi Rader – Gibson) on a weekly basis.
5- Timeframes may differ upon work schedules and work loads of Program Manager and Program Administrators before distribution will be completed for the Site Coordinators
6- The Program Administrators (David France and Kathi Rader-Gibson) then get the applications to the Site Coordinators.
7- The Site Coordinator will then notify the applicants that they have been accepted.
8- The volunteers that do not pass the background check will be notified by the Program Manager (Jack Colligan) by e-mail and by phone call.
9- Any questions by applicants pertaining to background checks should go to the Program Manager (Jack Colligan)
