Personal Tribute Program

Park benches, picnic tables and living trees are popular ways for people to remember and pay tribute or celebrate a special occasion for loved ones, friends, acquaintances, and co-workers.  Some people may wish to donate and dedicate trees, park benches, or other amenities for the betterment of the community.  Because of this popularity, the Friends of Sarasota County Parks, Inc. (FOSCP) in partnership with Sarasota County Parks and Recreation developed a tax-deductible gift program that would allow you to purchase specific park amenities to be placed in one of the parks in our system. alt

Park benches, picnic tables and living trees are three of the more popular ways to memorialize and/or pay tribute to someone.  All three are discussed in more detail in the next section.  If you are interested in other park amenities such as picnic shelters, playgrounds, exercise trails, segments of multi-use trails, or many more possibilities please contact the Friends of Sarasota County Parks (Terry Redman at 941-486-2222) for further information.  The County owns/operates more than 130 parks – your gift will provide enjoyment for many years to come! alt

Park Bench Tribute – Your tax-deductible gift of $1000 will purchase an approved wood park bench and is a wonderful way to remember some special time or person.  Your gift includes the bench and maintenance for the life of the bench.  You are welcome to provide an appropriate engraved plaque and our parks staff will install it on the bench.  Please ask your FOSCP representative for the plaque specifications before ordering. Note:  You will receive a $100 credit toward the plaque.
 
Recycled plastic benches are also available for $2,500 which includes the plaque and the park bench will be placed on site in perpetuity.

A Living Tribute – We have developed a program that would allow you to purchase a tree or several trees specific to the needs of our parks and located at a park mutually agreed upon by you and our parks staff.  Your tax-deductible gift of $1,000 will purchase one site-specific tree from one of our licensed and insured contractors, and includes planting and irrigation as well as ongoing care and maintenance.  You are welcome to provide an appropriate engraved plaque to be placed near the tree.  Again, please ask your FOSCP representative for the plaque specifications before ordering.
